Kevin Elwood, MD - Fellow
Kevin Elwood, MD grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago in Orland Park, IL. After graduating from Marist High School, he moved to Austin, Texas and attended The University of Texas graduating summa cum laude. During his time there he completed research studying inhibitors of novel drug targets through virtual platforms. Kevin then began medical school as one of the fifty inaugural students at The University of Texas Dell Medical School in Austin, Texas. It was here that Kevin found his passion in ophthalmology and retina, graduating with a distinction in research through his studies of teleretinal screening of diabetic retinopathy in Central Texas.
Kevin then returned to the Midwest and completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison furthering his skills in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases. During residency, Kevin was fortunate to travel to the Philippines to work with colleagues in ophthalmology learning and sharing knowledge. His research in residency focused on advanced ophthalmic imaging in macular degeneration and outcomes of neovascular glaucoma. Kevin is excited to be at Illinois Retina Associates furthering his training in vitreoretinal surgery.
In his spare time, you can find him avidly cheering on the Texas Longhorns football team on Saturdays and Chicago Bears on Sundays. He enjoys going on walks with his wife, daughter, and dog, and practicing his golf game.
