Dr. Hasan OPHTHPAC Speaker Series Host
On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, Dr. Sohail J. Hasan, MD, PhD, Associate Secretary and Chairman of the American Academy of Ophthalmology OPHTHPAC (Ophthalmology Political Action Committee), hosted the OPHTHPAC Speaker Series, which featured US Rep. Greg Murphy, MD (NC-03). Rep. Murphy is a member of the House Ways and Means and Veterans’ Affairs Committees, as well as the Co-Chair of the GOP Doctors Caucus.
More than 50 physicians across the nation attended the meeting. It provided an opportunity to discuss various healthcare policy issues with Rep. Murphy, focusing on matters relevant to physicians and patients. Key topics addressed included Medicare payment cuts, patient access to care, and scope of practice. Attendees were delighted to engage in a conversation about the current state of healthcare policy and gain insights into the congressional efforts aimed at supporting physicians and improving patient care.
